The results from the Watergate Scandal was that the Vietnam War changed the way Americans viewed the government, the media, and their Constitutional rights. The primary result of the Watergate Scandal involved the arrests of several aids to President Nixon, and Nixon himself being forced to resign the Presidency in the face of near certain impeachment for his role in the cover-up.
The Watergate Scandal is portrayed in some movies. Some of the movies are Forest Gump, All the President's Men, Born again, The Final Days, Frost/Nixon, Nasty Habits, Nixon, She hates me, and Will: G. Gordon Liddy. I do not think it is still talk about today. I only have heard it in Government class. The Watergate Scandal end up being a big deal. What made Watergate a scandal was that the President of the United States went out of his way to pardon his political allies who had broken the law in an effort to make sure he was re-elected, which he was. There was criminal activity right at the center of it. While there are no technical limits on the power of the presidential pardon, this was a naked power ploy and obvious mutual backscratching that was not supposed to be done in public. Nixon, to his credit, had some sense of shame. The last time there had been such a brazen power ploy in public was FDR's attempt to increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court in the 1930s. He made the attempt because the court had blocked many of his initiatives to try to get the economy moving again, citing constitutionality. Even though the public was in favor of these programs they were not in favor of such a power grab. If there had been anything actually criminal about it then that probably would have doomed FDRs administration, possibly to the point of impeachment.
